Jay is the author of three extremely successful books on elk hunting, a nationally requested conference speaker, editor, publisher, hunting consultant, and big game hunter. Jay is also the founder of  America's leading online resource of information for elk hunters, ElkCamp.com. Since  1996, Jay has helped thousands of elk hunters achieve their dream of a true   Rocky   Mountain high country adventure.

 Each year Jay captivates thousands of men, women, and young people with his transparent yet highly informative down-home style. Using humor and object lessons from his years spent in the high country in pursuit of majestic elk or elusive mule deer, or flying F-4 Phantom jet fighters around the globe, Jay has a unique ability to draw the audience into his story.

A devoted Christian, life-long hunter and outdoorsman, Jay has studied and pursued the majestic Rocky Mountain elk for over eighteen years. Jay made his first big game hunting pilgrimage west from Memphis, Tennessee to Rifle, Colorado in 1969 where he became forever captivated by the Aspen-covered Rockies and broad open spaces of elk country. He now hunts throughout Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, and Canada.

Since publishing Elk Hunting 101 in March 2004, Elk Hunting 201 in August 2005, and Elk Hunting 301 in August 2006, Jay has traveled extensively across America teaching seminars on elk hunting and speaking at numerous events and fundraising banquets. Jay was one of the Guest Speakers at the 2006 & 2007 Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Annual Elk Camp in Reno, Nevada, an event that attracts from 20,000-30,000 visitors each year.

For over a decade via The Outfitter Network, an organization that he founded, Jay has served as a hunting consultant assisting outfitters, landowners, professional hunters, and thousands of big game hunters around the globe. As a freelance writer for over 20 years, Jay has authored and published numerous articles and stories on a variety of topics. Jay is a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the Colorado Bowhunter’s Association.

Personal:
Jay is joyfully married to his best friend, Rae Ann, whom he calls his most ardent supporter and encourager. Jay has four daughters, a son, and two grandsons. Jay served in the United States Air Force and Air National Guard as a Weapons Systems Officer flying F-4 Phantom jet fighters. Jay earned a B.S. in Organizational Management from Colorado Christian University.
